How a semi-public frontage on Dahab’s promenade can connect a hotel with the city, welcome guests and passersby, and create a memorable social destination.
Hospitality begins before the lobby. When a hotel sits directly on a public promenade, its frontage can become more than an entrance: it can form a welcoming threshold between the property, its guests and the wider destination.
From hotel edge to semi-public place
In this Dahab project, Arc In Space treated the zone facing the promenade as a semi-public area rather than a closed hotel boundary. The intention was to create a place that serves hotel guests while also contributing to the experience of Dahab itself.
Because the promenade runs through the relationship between the hotel and its frontage, the design extends the hotel experience outward. People moving along the promenade can enter the seating area, pause, meet and enjoy the setting without weakening the identity of the hotel.
Designing for movement, comfort and memory
The frontage combines comfortable seating, a visually inviting setting and a gentle waterfall feature. Together, these elements turn circulation into an experience: visitors can stop, take photographs and spend time in a place that feels connected to both the hotel and the street.
This is the value of a well-designed threshold. It supports arrival, social activity and visibility at the same time, helping a hospitality property participate in its surroundings rather than turning away from them.
