On a mountain construction site, risk can change in seconds. What protects people and equipment is not improvisation, but calm judgment, clear communication and a recovery plan built around control.
When the ground changes, the plan must change
During work on the Galala road, an excavator was operating across stepped mountain terrain when the situation became unstable. The operator warned that the machine could move down the mountainside. The immediate priority was to confirm that the team was safe, understand the machine's position and avoid turning one incident into a larger emergency.
Eng. Youssef M. Aziz explains that the recovery required equipment heavier than the excavator itself. Two bulldozers and a high-strength steel wire rope were prepared so the machine could be restrained and pulled under controlled force.
The hardest task was reaching the machine safely
The technical solution was only part of the challenge. Someone still had to enter the excavated area, prepare a secure position and fasten the steel rope around the excavator. Once the connection was complete, the bulldozers pulled together and recovered the machine.
The lesson extends beyond one dramatic site story. Construction leadership means identifying the changing risk, protecting the people first, selecting equipment with adequate capacity and coordinating every movement before force is applied.
Engineering judgment is part of execution quality

عندما تتحرك الجبال: استعادة حفار بأمان تحت ضغط الموقع

أثناء العمل في طريق الجلالة، كان أحد الحفارات يعمل فوق تضاريس جبلية متدرجة عندما أصبح الموقف غير مستقر. حذر السائق من احتمال تحرك الحفار إلى أسفل الجبل، فكانت الأولوية الأولى هي التأكد من سلامة الفريق، وفهم وضع المعدة، ومنع تحول الحادث إلى أزمة أكبر.
يوضح المهندس يوسف م. عزيز أن عملية الاستعادة احتاجت إلى معدات أثقل من الحفار نفسه. جرى تجهيز بلدوزرين وحبل سلكي فولاذي عالي التحمل لتثبيت المعدة وسحبها بقوة محسوبة وتحت السيطرة.
أصعب خطوة كانت الوصول إلى الحفار بأمان
لم يكن الحل الفني وحده هو التحدي، إذ كان لا بد من دخول منطقة الحفر، وتجهيز موضع آمن، وربط الحبل الفولاذي حول الحفار. وبعد تثبيت الوصلة، عمل البلدوزران معًا حتى استعادا المعدة بنجاح.
الدرس يتجاوز قصة واحدة في الموقع. قيادة التنفيذ تعني قراءة الخطر المتغير، وحماية الأفراد أولًا، واختيار معدات ذات قدرة مناسبة، وتنسيق كل حركة قبل تطبيق أي قوة.
الحكم الهندسي جزء من جودة التنفيذ
لا يقاس نجاح المشروع بالنتيجة النهائية وحدها، بل أيضًا بالقرارات التي تتخذ عندما تصبح الظروف صعبة. التنفيذ القوي يحمي التصميم والبرنامج والمعدات، والأهم من ذلك كله، الأشخاص المسؤولين عن البناء.
